A new sustainable house in the Forest of Dean
Blake Architects were appointed to design a sustainable family home on a site within a Gloucestershire village.
The house was modeled using enivronmental software which we used to test and refine our design. This allowed us to evaluate many different parameters including orientations, fabric u-values and glazing areas which gave us a clear understanding of the estimated energy use and carbon emissions. This was all undertaken at an early design stage and helped inform the detail of the design.
We took time to model neighbouring properties to understand the relationships between the houses and the character of the village and how our proposal would sit within this.
The proposal was approved at appeal.
