We achieved planning for this new country house, which is set in the hills near Hungerford, on the site of a former redundant dairy works and managed the construction process for the client. The traditionally designed house responds to the local identity of clay brick and tiled houses.
The 5,500 sqft building has been designed as a generous family house with well-proportioned rooms that take advantage of the views to the distant downs.
The house is built from handmade bricks with Bath stone detailing including a portico to the south and entrance porch to the north. Although of a traditional design, the latest technologies for heating, heat recovery, entertainment and insulation are used to provide a comfortable family home.
Careful consideration was given to the landscaping and setting of the house to achieve a strong link between house, garden and the landscape beyond.
