WHO ARE WE?
Founder, Jonathan Nettleton, returned to the Cotswold countryside of his childhood to launch Blake Architects in 2011. Since then, we have wrestled with railway sheds and WW2 aircraft hangers, historic barns and private houses, hotels, holiday homes and shops. We have engaged with and challenged our clients’ briefs and solved complex planning constraints where others have failed. And with every project, we have crafted poetic yet pragmatic homes and workspaces.
Our light, open plan studio is a converted Cotswold barn set in beautiful countryside between Cirencester and Cheltenham. Designed by Jonathan, it practices what we preach, including heat from a ground source heat pump, plenty of natural and LED lighting to reduce our carbon footprint, as well as carefully chosen construction materials with green credentials and a high recyclable content wherever possible.
If you drop by, you’ll find we’re an intriguing blend of traditional and modern – from our old style library filled with inspiring books and cherished journals, to the latest virtual reality equipment. We’re equally at home producing beautiful hand drawn sketches as state-of-the-art VR walk throughs.
We are a RIBA Chartered Practice, members of the Green Register and enthusiastic signatories of Architects Declare. Buildings and construction have a major impact on our environment and so we want to be at the forefront of the drive to design better, more sustainable spaces.
